The chief executive of the Russian state-run arms trader Rosoboronexport told reporters that his company will supply S-400air defence systems to China according to schedule.
He said, “China is the first country that has entered into a S-400 supply contract.”
The report says that the Chinese government signed a contract with Russia in September 2014 for equipping 4 battalions of S-400. A regular S-400 battalion consists of at least eight launchers with 32 missiles and a mobile command post.
Experts point out that Beijing’s acquisition of the new air defence systems can change the balance of force in the region.
Countries in the region will have to acquire new stealth technology to deal with the S-400 air defence systems as the systems can kill stealth bombers and fighter jets such as the B-1, the FB-111, the F-22 and the F-35.
