Army Board Meet Reviews 21 Cutting-Edge Projects for Defence

At the two-day meeting of the Army Technology Board (ATB) which began Wednesday at the College of Military Engineering, the board reviewed the technological projects being developed for the Indian army and also considered new proposals for research and development.

This was the eighteenth meeting of the board, and was held under the chairmanship of Lt Gen PM Hariz, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Army Training Command (ARTRAC). The ATB provides a platform to leverage the technological expertise of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) into useful solutions and products for army, in an economical time frame, a press release from the defence PRO said.

The board reviewed the progress of 21 ongoing projects and considered certain new proposals under the enhanced budget ceiling for research and development projects through technical government institutes.

Gen Hariz, in his address asked the forum to synergise research and development efforts under ATB with the army’s capability development plans and focus on technologies as reflected in the technology perspective and capability roadmap document issued by the Ministry of Defence.
