JAIPUR: South Western Army Commander Lt Gen Sarath Chand today inspected the battle exercise 'Shatrujeet', in western sector of Rajasthan where he was briefed about its activities.

The exercise is being conducted by the Strike 1 formation of Indian Army commanded by Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan over the last two months where the soldiers are braving intense heat and sand storms while training for manoeuvres planned for operations deep into the enemy territory when required, Defence spokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha said in a release.

The formation has been practicing and validating the employment of mechanised forces, infantry, Air Force and support elements in a simulated battle field so as to fine tune their procedures to fight a synergised air-land battle.

Improved obstacle crossing methods and converged communications networks enabling improved pace of operations are being practiced. The Corps has the ability to practice fighting in the nuclear overhang.

The Army Commander expressed satisfaction on the training and ability of the formation to execute plans efficiently, the release said.

He called upon the troops to be fully prepared to absorb modern technological advancement while planning for battle and be prepared to exploit fleeting opportunities presented in the fast paced modern battle field.
