This week, a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department said sanctions against Pyongyang "seek to impose consequences on the DPRK regime, not on the North Korean people".

Oh Joon, South Korea's U.N. ambassador, warned North Korea's action would trigger discussion by the United Nations Security Council of possible sanctions against Pyongyang. To prevent the North's provocations, Seoul has been stepping up its diplomacy through bilateral and multilateral high-level talks.

He pointed out that "the situation on the Korean Peninsula had once again headed to the brink of war" in August.

"We are prepared to launch at any time or any place". "It won't really benefit North Korean citizens".

A landmark deal reached in the first summit paved the way for the two Koreas to ease military tensions and begin economic cooperation after decades of hostility.

"Because of the reckless anti-[North Korea] confrontational racket of the South, the rare reunions of separated families are at stake like being on a thin ice", an unidentified spokesman for the North's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said in a statement on Tuesday, Yonhap reported.

"There is no sign yet that the long-range rocket launch (by the DPRK) is immediate,"Defense Ministry spokesman Kim Min-seok told a press briefing".

The government plans to implement the kill Chain, a preemptive strike apparatus that detects before the North lauches nuclear and ballistic missiles. Addressing the UN General Assembly in New York on Monday, Park said the North's pursuit of a nuclear deterrent constituted a global threat and she urged the worldwide community to join in pushing Pyongyang down a different path.

"North Korea has not shown any clear movement toward blasting a long-range missile yet".

North Korea indicated earlier in September that it may launch a satellite on or around October 10 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers' Party. "The development of nuclear weapons and long-range ballistic missiles, which are obstacles to world peace, must be stopped".

"Various equipment and troops like combat jets, artillery equipment and missiles have been deployed to the Mirim Airport in Pyongyang".

The parade may come in lieu of a long-range missile launch expected for the celebration later this month, with the country showing yet no signs of a missile launch.
